The Southwest Tib occurrence is located on the western flank of Trio Mountain, at an elevation of 1025 metres, approximately 12 kilometres north-northeast of the town of Gold River.

Regionally, the area is underlain by Upper Triassic Vancouver Group volcanic rocks of the Karmutsen Formation intruded and altered by granodiorites of the Jurassic Island Plutonic Suite.

Locally, a mineralized quartz stock work is hosted by a shear zone in volcanic rocks over a width of approximately 17 metres. Mineralization consists of pyrite, chalcopyrite, malachite and trace bornite.

In 2012, a chip sample (1968106) yielded 0.789 per cent copper over 1.0 metre (Assessment Report 33706).

In 1995, Orvana Minerals completed a program of geological mapping and geochemical sampling on the area as the Trio claims. In 2011, Universal Ventures Inc. discovered the KJI showing on the west side of Trio Mountain while doing a small sampling program. Universal Ventures Inc. also completed an airborne geophysics survey over the area in 2011. In 2012 and 2013, Universal Ventures Inc. completed program of rock and soil sampling, geophysical surveys and geological mapping on the Tib property, focused on the KJI (MINFILE 092E 087) showing.

In 2018 an interpretive study was conducted on the Trio property by tenure holder K. Galambos. The study included air photo and geophysical interpretation as well as historical research and limited prospecting on the area surrounding Trio Mountain (Assessment Report 38109).
